Eureka!

Friday, December 5th, 2008

I’ve done it.
I’m trying to complain a little less, mainly because I don’t like it when my children complain. So, I’m looking for silver linings these days. And you know how I feel about winter? Well, I found something nice to say (wouldn’t Thumper’s dad be proud?)
Here it is: I like winter because all those [...]

Frustrated

Friday, November 21st, 2008

I have some adorable coloring sheets to upload. They’re artwork courtesy of Andy and Brady.
However, my blog isn’t wanting to upload them. So, I’m looking more seriously at a new template. That’ll show it, huh?

Really?

Politics aside (I tend to shove mine to the right), some people clearly have way more free time than I do.  Check this out.

Overstuffed

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Remember last week when I said we’d stuffed the back of our 12-passenger van for our trip?
Keep in mind that we actually removed the last bench seat to do this. It’s almost comical, huh?

Sadly, all of that has exploded in my living room and I must attempt to tackle it now. Ugh.

Friends?

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Just a quick note to all my friends who read this, I took the plunge awhile ago and joined Facebook (after much prompting from some church friends –*cough, cough* Joe & Jamie.) Anyway, if you want to add me to your friends — even if I don’t know you in “real life” — use my [...]

Four-letter word

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Evan has recently picked up a new word. Her vocabulary is expanding rapidly. That’s exciting, but this newest addition is of the four-letter variety and it does not make me happy… at all.
Keep in mind that this is a word that her Daddy and I rarely use and we desperately try NOT to teach it [...]

I’m not dead

…Just up to my ears in planning the maiden voyage of my life as a homeschool mom. Please forgive my absence. I’ll return soon.

A Natural Overachiever

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

Ever feel like an underachiever just by hearing about someone else’s accomplishements?
This story did it for me.
One lady… seven babies… all at once! Amazing. To top it off, each of the septuplets weighed more than my preemie daughter Evan, who weighed just two pounds, twelve ounces!
That’s what you call multiple blessings.

And a partridge and a pear tree

small black snake? . . .  check!
dead and pungent possum? . . . check!
larger brown snake? . . .  check!
toddler-sized woodchuck? . . .  check!
scraggly calico cat? . . .  check!
my “friend” the now 18-inch snake? . . .  check!
Mowing the lawn without being harmed by my lawn’s natural wildlife?  Priceless.

Rehearsed Rhyming

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

The boys have really been on a kick of rhyming words lately. As I said before, Andy gets it. Brady’s coming around now.
The other day, he ran into our room where I was folding laundry. He said, “Mommy, do ‘mail’ and ‘fail’ rhyme?”
“Yup!” I said.
“Goody,” he giggled. “I’ve been talking to myself about that.”
Then he [...]
