Rewarded

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

As you know, I’ve been busy. Things are crazy around here these days.
School, housework, graphic design projects, dishes, laundry, registering all of our town’s Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken baseball players, preparing for a baby shower we’re hosting for a friend, laundry, baking cookies, dishes, and all this while my husband goes a mile a minute [...]

Little Chefs

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

My kids like to cook. All of them. Even the boys. (Well, I suppose the jury is still out on little Gray, since he’s only 6 months old. If his enthusiasm for eating is any indication, he’ll like to cook, too.)
For Christmas, I found them a neat little kids’ cookbook. It has pictures that help [...]

Be All That You Can Be

Friday, December 4th, 2009

This is a Public Service Announcement:
Army men — the little green kind, not the large human kind — can be washed and dried. I mean, they survive a trip through the spin cycle and permanent press.

No harm done. Much better results than trying to wash crayons.
Just in case you were wondering…

Pie Swiper

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Tonight is our annual “Praise & Pie” service at church.
It’s one of my favorite services of the whole year… And it’s NOT about the pie. To be honest, I’m not really a huge pie fan at all. I just enjoy hearing the ways God has truly blessed those around me!
So, yesterday I made two pies. [...]

Progress is Her Middle Name

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

Really, it’s Joy… but potty training Evan has been a joy!
We started on Saturday and had her special potty day. Now, just 5 days later, she’s had no accidents all day. Yesterday was pretty much the same!
I’ve always heard that potty training girls is easier than boys and so far, I believe it. She’s younger than [...]

Relax

Friday, August 21st, 2009

You all can breathe easy.
Sleep well tonight, too.
Evan slathered diaper rash ointment all over the carpet in their bedroom again last night. Their floor will NEVER get diaper rash. So, relax.
After all… what better does a two-year-old have to do at half-past midnight?
By the way, anyone have tips for getting it out of carpet?!

Increase!

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Last year, I posted about how much the average Mom’s salary should be: $117,000.
I’m happy to report that we got a raise. Check this out!
Hmmm… My responsibilities have increased over the past year. I’m now a teacher and am about to add another child to the mix. I think I’ll be in negotiations.

Called Out

Friday, March 27th, 2009

You’re probably getting a bit sick of hearing about our “remodel,” huh? Sorry. It’s consumed our house for about three weeks. While we’re all moved in, some things need to be done to our “old room” before the girls can move in.
Like painting… and, um, cleaning.
See, our old room became sort of a family room [...]

Sock Pickles

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

I’m baaack! Did you miss me?
I hated being “away” so long. Our bedroom “remodel” took a little longer than expected (don’t they always?) plus we got hit with a couple of rounds of really bad colds and our internet was down for several days. Oh, and our dryer died. We don’t do anything half-way.
Just to [...]

Must Be Doing Something Right

Friday, January 9th, 2009

I must be doing something right.
Last night, I was working on some design projects (in the basement where my computer is) and Brady yelled down the stairs. ”Hey Mom, can me and Andy vacuum?”
Be still my beating heart!
Granted, they wanted to clean up the pretzels they had spilled on the carpet and then smashed, but still… it’s a [...]
