Treatment

It seems summer may have finally arrived — though I’m cautious about saying that too soon. It’s supposed to rain and cool down this weekend!

My kids have been enjoying playing outside much more. I’ve enjoyed giving them the extra space to run and just be kids! The other day, they played until it was pretty much dark outside.

But I failed them. I forgot to drench them in bug spray.

I’m pretty sure at least half of my kids are allergic to mosquito bites, like I am. The girls both woke up the next morning with what practically looked like hives. I counted more than 30 bites on Ferris’ upper body alone. Her arms were wavy with swollen bumps! Evan was much the same.

By afternoon, the mosquito bites had started to blister. I broke down and gave them each a small dose of Benadryl. It seems to have helped.

The strangest part, though, is that Grayson is strangely drawn to the Benadryl bottle! He loves watching the red liquid ooze from one end of the bottle to the other! Because of the child-proof lid, he can’t open it… so I’ve been letting him entertain himself with the bottle.

This morning, he carried it around for more than an hour.

Hopefully that means he won’t get any allergic reactions any time soon…

Anyone know of any good ways to get rid of mosquitoes?
