Confessions

My girl Evan is special. I mean that in every sense of the word.

She’s precious, she’s eccentric and she’s weird.  We love all those aspects.

Today, the kiddos were playing outside. I ushered them into the house for lunch and told them if they ate well, they could take a popsicle outside to enjoy.

This idea elated Evan. She devoured her first few bites of pizza. I went back in the kitchen to pour drinks and she came in a few minutes later.

“Mommy, I’m all done with my pizza!”

Surprised, I asked, “You ARE?!”

“Yes,” she said. “Just don’t look!”

My life is often the same way. People often think we have it all together — and that we “have it all.”

It’s true that we’re blessed beyond measure. But I’ll let you in on a little secret: my house is often a wreck!

Laundry piled up, dishes in the sink, trash heaping in the cans, often times food on the floor…

My kids are happy and well fed and learning… They’re even clean… Wearing clean clothes, even if they are dress-up costumes.

But my house isn’t always gorgeous. So, “just don’t look.” ;)

PS–I can’t wait ’til our grass is GREEN again!
