The Thorn in My Flesh
It’s true that we LOVE having a bigger family. (I say “bigger” because I still don’t think of us as a “big family.”)
I love that it’s teaching my children to always be considerate of others, to continually look for opportunites to serve and to share, and to understand the blessing of children from a very early age.
But, oh, the laundry! Woah is me!!
I’m sure I’m not the only one with laundry woahs. I’m sure I’m not the only one who needs to do more than a load a day.
But I made a big mistake.
With all the other stuff going on in my life, I let go of the laundry last week. I didn’t do it at all. For more than a week. I knew it would wait for me.
It did. It came back to haunt me this week.
This week has been equally insane, but I was determined to catch up on the laundry.
I have done more than 15 loads this week. Honestly. I’ve lost count!
The worst part is: I’m still not done!! Oooof…
Someday my kids will be more capable of helping with their own laundry, right? Right now, they’re barely capable of putting their own things away. Often times I find the freshly folded things wadded up in the corners of their drawers… or worse, on the floor. *gasp*
Step by step, I will find the bottom of my laundry basket soon. Even if it is only for 15 minutes!
Tune in next time when we discuss the never-ending mountain of dirty dishes in our house without a dishwasher.

Yes, I can tell you they do get old enough to do their own laundry. My son Adam has done his own laundry for years. He washes it, rotates it into the dryer, folds it, and puts it away. I hardly ever see his clothes mixed into the general mountain-o-laundry.
One of the (short-lived, I’m sure) advantages of just having bought a new washer/dryer is that EVERYONE wants to help. With the clear doors and LED lighting (even when running, if you want), I’ve found Kaleigh (my 4 year old daughter) standing in the laundry room entranced by the clothes being washed. It’s really funny.
Please say it’ll last
And, by the way: I’d say that you’re not a BIG family as long as you know a family bigger than yours. I got a few on ‘ya still … and I still know a precious FEW bigger than mine (they’re getting fewer and farther between, tho) … so we’re both good for a while longer!

You could do like I have thought to do often~~ Call Merry Maids and offer your home for the new hires trainning opportunity~ Tell them free of charge~ It would help all involved out~
What cha think~~
I know in my own life I get bothered if I can not see the bottom of my hampers~~
