A Step Ahead
Due to the chaos that is my husband’s work schedule, we have a strange, fluctuating homeschool schedule.
We “do school” just four days a week.
Some weeks it’s Monday through Thursday. Other times it’s Tuesday through Friday. Sometimes it’s randomly taken off in the middle of the week to work around a doctor’s appointment or, more importantly, a rare day off for Nate! (Yippee!!)
We end up with a shorter summer break this way, but it works out well for us. I think it’s more important for my kids to get to spend time with their Dad when they can than to have two straight months off in the summer to forget what they’ve learned anyway.
Every once in awhile, another parent will question our technique, but once I explain the shorter summer, they drop it.
Lo and behold this happened and it was all over the news today! Can you believe the entire state of Illinois is thinking of following suit?!
So, what are you thoughts? Would you be in favor of a four-day week for your kids?

I think it would be WONDERFUL. Add that to letting teenagers sleep later (start High School at 9 or even 10) … I think we’d have a much better school experience!
Good luck passing THAT through congress (LOL!)
