ABC is not as easy as 1-2-3

Connor is 4. He likes to learn new things. He is still, however, struggling with the order of a few of the letters in the alphabet.

Often his version goes something like this: “A B C D E F G, H I K J - lallalala - Q R S, W X Y Z…” It’s a little off, don’t you think? ;)

He reverses the J and K, babbles the middle section and skips T-V!

I was washing dishes last night and he was talking to me, just keeping me company in the kitchen. So, I treid to get him to sing the “ABC song” with me.

He sang it his way, while I sang it mine. (My husband would like you to note here that we did not meet between that ol’ Georgia pine. I know what he’s thinking.)

So, I sang the song slower. He listened. I got to the end and wrapped it up with gusto: “Now Connor sang his ABC’s, next time won’t you sing with him!”

He looked at me and frowned.

I didn’t sing my ABCs! You did it!!”

Apparently, it’s a pretty bad crime to wrongly accuse someone of singing a song they didn’t. Especially when you’re 4.

We’ll keep trying. :)
