Yesterday, we celebrated our 8th anniversary!

Neither of us can believe it’s been 8 years. Yet, we look around and see six smiling faces and know it must be true!

My husband is a treasure to me in so many ways. He “gets me” better than anyone else. Case in point:

The flu has hit us hard. For more than a week now, we’ve been dealing with fevers, headaches, sore throats and now nasty coughs. When Nate got home from flying yesterday, I was beat. There was no way for us to go out since our kiddos were sick.

So, in a romantic move, my husband took out the trash (one of those acts of service that just speaks to me!) and then ordered carry-out from a local steak joint! He went and picked it up and even thrilled the kids by getting them McDonald’s! (They were happier about that than they would have been to get food from our place.)

We ate our yummy food, had plenty of room in the trash can to throw away the packages, then snuggled on the couch with the TV remote and 6 clammy, coughing kids.

Pretty near perfect in my book. I will admit, however, that when we got married 8 years ago, I had no idea my anniversaries would look like that. And I had no idea how much it would make me happy.
