They Call Her the Wanderer
Remember those Family Circle Cartoons where the mother tells the son to come straight home, but the cartoon shows his red-dashed path home, complete with about a million stops… over fences, under trees, around the playground…?
That’s my Evan these days. At night.
Last night, for example, we put her to bed. About an hour later, I heard some activity over the monitor, so I went to investigate. Everyone else in the house was sawing logs.
Evan, however, was up playing on the floor — of her brothers’ room! Three boys sleeping and she’s sitting in the middle of their floor, playing with their toys!
So, I explained to her (again) that she needs to stay in her bed and promptly put her there. I noticed she was missing her pink satin blanket that she has to have to sleep, so I told her to stay put and I went to find it.
I finally did.
It was in her big brother’s bed. Brady’s. The TOP bunk! Apparently, she had been up there to play, too, even though he was sound asleep!
Crazy little monkey girl cracks me up. I gave her the blanket and reminded her to stay put.
When Nate got up at 5:30 a.m. to go hunting, I went to upstairs to see him off. There — on the couch — was my tiny Sleeping Beauty. Evan, curled up with the pink blanket, was sound asleep.
She roams around, around, around…
