Pinstripes and Numbers

As part of Brady’s first grade school work, I dictate a series of numbers to him and he has to write them down. This way, we can be sure he’s understanding place value and such.

Monday, I dictated some to him and he was mumbling something in reply. I finally figured out what he was doing. See if you can figure it out:

Me: “22.”

Brady, writing 22: “Gorzelanny.”

Me: “12.”

Brady, writing 12: “Soriano.”

Me: “18.”

Brady, writing 18: “Soto.”

Me: “5.”

Brady, writing 5: “Fox.”

Me: “16.”

Brady, giggling by this time, but still writing 16: “Ramirez.”

He had me laughing, too.  So, how ’bout it? Can you figure out what he was talking about?
