Tonight, there was much fighting at our dinner table as I cleared away the dishes.
Evan was putting some food on her plate and Ferris was stealing it off Evan’s plate and shoving it in her little mouth as fast as she could. It wasn’t dessert though.
It was cantaloupe!
My kids had cantaloupe, grapes and tossed salad [...]

We’re starting school here this morning. I know, I know. It’s JULY.
Yet, we’re starting. Andy’s entering 2nd grade, and Brady’s starting 1st. We see many advantages to doing school year-round, but we do like to give the kids a break that’s a bit longer in the summer. So, we take off for T-ball season. [...]

The only thing cooler than having your Dad show up at the playground to play with you in his squad car is when he pushes you, your brothers and sisters, and half the neighborhood of kids really, really fast on the merry-go-round.
So fast that your brother flies off.
He’s that cool.
Yesterday, we visited a “new” playground. [...]

This morning at church, Connor needed to use the restroom before the service started. I swiftly dragged him into the women’s restroom with me and, since there were two of us and no one needed it, we took the larger handicap stall. After he was done, I was buckling his belt and he grabbed the [...]

To all my fellow homeschooling parents out there in bloggy-land, here’s a question for you:
How long do you keep used homeschool materials/curricula after you’ve used it? I mean, how long do you need to keep it as “proof” after it’s been completed? Any ideas?
Thanks!

On Monday, we met my parents at a small children’s zoo half-way between our houses. We were thrilled that Nate’s brother, his wife and their three children could come, too. My mom’s sister came and brought my cousins three boys, also. All in all, there were six adults and 12 children. Half of them were [...]

FYI: All those spare socks you’ve lost in recent years? I know where they are.
There’s no such thing as a sock monster living in your dryer. No siree!
He lives under Andy’s bed. He’s alive and well, and well fed.
I’m in the midst of cleaning / rearranging / shuffling the boys’ room (hoping to get things [...]

It’s over.
Another T-ball season, come and gone. We’re sad. Seriously, I hate to see it end. Tuesday night was the last game of the season, and it makes us all sad.
Next year, Andy will play rookies, Brady will be in his second season of T-ball, and Connor will play Junior T-ball. Grayson will watch from [...]

Today, I was cleaning up in the kitchen and I heard a knock at the front door. Nate was downstairs getting ready for work, so I answered it. There stood Mr. Willard, our elderly neighbor man.
Mr. Willard has lived two doors down from us the entire time we’ve lived in our house. He’s a widower, [...]
