Achievement!

We finished our first year of homeschooling yesterday!

Actually, we started in September, and just finished TWO YEARS worth of curriculum. Crazy, huh? Andy started last fall in Kindergarten, and Brady began doing pre-school stuff. Yesterday, Andy completed first grade and Brady finished Kindergarten! What’s more is that they both got straight A’s!

We headed off to a playground last night to celebrate and then went to the sporting goods store in search of baseball socks. (You did know that baseball socks are the reward for straight A’s, didn’t you?)

To be honest, I wasn’t sure I would like homeschooling my children. Yet, I do! It’s been incredible watching them learn to read and write and hunger for knowledge.

We do plan to slow down next year and only do one year’s worth of curriculum. We do a pseudo-year-round schedule, but they’re elated to get “62 whole days off!” (This summer is dictated in part be the arrival of Baby G.)

Let’s hope next year goes just as well as this year did. After all, they’ll be in need of new baseball socks by then. ;)
