A Song in Her Heart

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

My girl Evan loves music. She’s constantly carrying around books, thumbing through the pages, then holding them up and singing from them as if they’re hymnals. Of course, she makes up her own words.
Earlier this week, she was belting out a unique tune about a suitcase. Not sure what that was about.
My favorite, however, is [...]

Ever Wondered…?

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Just in case you ever wondered, we’re here to help:
If your two-year-old daughter finds a container of baby powder and decides her baby doll needs the entire contents sprinkled on it while she’s in her brothers’ room, there IS an upside!
The room will no longer have that little-boy-sweaty-from-playing-outside smell to it.
For now, it’s powdery fresh… [...]

Almost, but not quite!

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Last week was a bit long. The hotel pool was closed for renovation, so the kids seemed long on energy and short on creativity.
I was doing school with Andy and Brady one morning, and Evan and Connor kept wandering in from the kids’ room (two adjoining rooms…  Seems our family is so large we’re a [...]

One word: YUM!

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Tonight is the night that we look forward to all week while Nate’s teaching at the Academy. The kids and I will endure peanut butter and jelly just so we can allow room in our budget for this place.
Hands down, it’s Andy’s favorite place to eat in the whole world. It’s pretty high on my [...]

The Mommy Team

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

I’m sure most of you know about the Duggars. If not (which rock are you living under?!), they’re the family in Arkansas who now have 18 biological children. They have a show on TLC (now aptly called “18 Kids and Counting”) that we watch each week. They’re a sweet family with hearts for the Lord.
In [...]

Bright room, big vocab

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

We finally got our old room painted and the girls have moved in. It’s not 100% done, so I’ll hold off on the photos for now. Just know that it’s yellow.
Very, very yellow.
We got a great deal on two matching cribs several months ago on Craig’s List. The crib set I bought after Evan was [...]

“Smartness” runs in the family

Check out just how brilliant my 8-year-old nephew is. Cracked me up!
While you’re there, stop and read how super-cool and brilliant his Mom is, too.

Gettin’ the heck out of Dodge

Monday, April 20th, 2009

We’re outta here… again.
Remember our semi-annual trips to Honor Guard Camp? That’s this week again. I’ve pre-scheduled a few posts, but I hope to be back to full speed when we return. Don’t miss me too much!

Would you like some whiiiiine with that?

Friday, April 17th, 2009

Last week, two-year-old Evan was having a particularly fussy day. Nothing seemed to make her happy. She cried, pouted and whined her way through the morning.
Finally, around lunch time, I sat her down and said, “Evan, what’s wrong? What do you need?”
She sobbed harder. Finally, she said in her tiny voice, “I just can’t take [...]

Accentuate the Obvious

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Last night at dinner, Brady said, “Hey Mom, I know how to say burrito in another language.”
“Oh yeah?” I said, looking at Nate. Nate gave me a look that simply said, ‘This ought to be good.’
So, Brady did it: “Burr-ee-toe,” he said with a hardish ‘R’ sound and a Mexican accent. We tried not to [...]
