A Price on Love

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

For years, Connor has correctly answered”bunches!” when asked how much Mommy loves him. I’ve always thought he was so cute in the way he’d respond (sometime “bunchies”) so I thought I’d try it out on Evan (who’s now two, remember?)
Me: “I love you, Evan.”
Evan:“I yuh you, too, Mommy.”
Me: “How much does Mommy love you?”
Evan:“Ummm…. TWO!”
Me, laughing: [...]

MFEO

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

My dreamy husband Nate and I were made for each other. While one of is smart, the other is smarter… When one of us is goofy, the other is goofier.
We were just discussing the idea of taking up the carpet in our living room due to the discovery of Brady’s allergy to dust mites. (The [...]

The Saga Continues

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

After nearly four months of eliminating 28 “allergic foods” for Brady, his symptoms did not improve. In fact, they were worse.
After a recommendation from a friend, we found a local allergist who was covered by our insurance and was said to be good with kids. Our kind of guy! Yesterday was Brady’s first appointment.
In some [...]

So THAT’s where that goes!

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

I just reached into our bathroom medicine cabinet (which, oddly enough, does not have any medicine in it) for dental floss.
I also found a dried up crusted edge of a brownie.
I always wondered where you were supposed to put those. Now I know.

Counting it ALL Joy!

I have several clever and witty and exciting things to blog about… you know, like the fact that my nearly one-year-old baby girl’s hair is most decidedly curly. Before I blog about that, I want to include a photo of the back of her head.
I could also tell you that Baby G had his/her first [...]

Flowers from my Sweetheart

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Saturday was Valentine’s Day… and this year, Nate and I actually got to go on a date! Nana was visiting, so she watched the crew while Nate and I went to our church’s Valentine Banquet. It was great fun!
We don’t generally exchange gifts on days like this. I’m much too practical. I always think of [...]

Next Year is Here

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Today’s the big day.
Pitchers and catchers report to spring training today.
Next weekend, our two oldest sign up for T-ball (and they’ll get to be on the same team this year!)
I love baseball, of course, but I also love that these are the earliest signs of spring! Just think… only about four more months before Baby [...]

In 11 Years

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Memo to Me, in 11 Years:
Tonight Brady (now 5) blew past me in the hallway. In his blazing hurry, he shouted, “Mom, can I get my driver’s license when I’m 25?”
A bit confused, I said, “Uh, sure.”
“GREAT!” he shouted.
I want to remember this when he turns 16. He’ll have nine more years to wait.

The Card that Pays You Back

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Remember when Andy was so excited to get a library card for his birthday (way back in December?)
We headed off to the library yesterday as a family, since Nate had a rare morning off. Andy was so giddy to use his card. He kept asking to hold it, I kept declining. (I just didn’t want [...]

Sad, but True

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

The other day, a friend asked me how I was feeling. Patting my ever-growing belly, I confessed, “Fat!”
“Aren’t you used to it by now?” she asked.
She wasn’t being mean at all… just truthful! We’ve been married 87 months, and I’ve been pregnant for about 52 of those. I suppose I should get used to it, [...]
