In the Bleak Mid-Winter
We’re “experiencing blizzard-like conditions” here in Chicagoland.
The good news is that the weather’s too bad for Nate and his students to fly, so he’s home for more than 20 minutes a day. (The bad news is that he doesn’t get paid when he doesn’t fly.) We like him around.
The kids have been dying to play in all that snow… but Mama isn’t much of one for being cold and wet. So, Daddy put them to work today. They “shoveled” the driveway (which was more like flipping snow different directions with their mini shovels.) Check out their hard work:
Brady sported the gangster look with his hat.
Evan just hid between vehicles to eat the snow. ![]()
Doesn’t she look like a Marshmallow Peep in that get-up?!
Connor worked hard for about 8 minutes… then came in for some hot chocolate!
Andy stuck to light duty.
The weather forecasters keep saying there’s more snow to follow. The kids are enjoying this, but then again, they don’t really know what a “snow day” is and that some kids get the day off school. They finished their work before the were “allowed” to go help Daddy outside. Mommy and Ferris stayed in where it’s warm.
One thing is certain… I can’t wait for spring!

Where is Nate and his shovel??? We had some doozy’s when my girls were growing up. I remember one when they were quite young and if Bob hadn’t left work he wouldn’t have gotten home for 3-4 days as they did a lock down at the mill so they would have someone to work the plant because nobody could make it in after a certain period of time.

How adorable they are. Just wanna squeeze ‘em. We are actually getting some here, too! Yay! I can send the kids out and wear them out. It always helps them sleep better.
Love the shovels, by the way. Where did you get them?

I love seeing them enjoying the snow. At least they are enjoying it right now. The older I get the less I enjoy it.
Just make sure Evan doesn’t eat the yellow snow.
Stay inside though while it is so cold out, ask Daddy he will probably even tell you it’s toooo cold to go out while the temps are so low.
Too bad snow has to be so cold, huh?

Heather, the shovels are so great, aren’t they?! The boys feel so big helping Daddy and the shovels are so manageable for them that they really can help! They came from Menards. They come in 3 different colors (we got one of each) and were just $2.50 each!! Woo-Hoo!
