Sweetness Untapped

So, I’m about 16 weeks along with Baby G. It’s hard to believe I’m almost half-way! It goes way too fast!

Anyway, for most people, they’d probably be over their morning sickness by now. But, I’m special.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m not complaining. The morning sickness, for me, is a sign that the baby is doing well and the pregnancy is progressing in a healthy manner. The only baby I wasn’t sick with was Baby D, who unfortunately was miscarried. I’m relieved to be experiencing morning sickness. Strange, aren’t I?

This morning, I was getting the school stuff out and putting it on the dining room table. Brady walked past me to put his cereal bowl in the kitchen sink. He looked at me and in a moment of pure honesty (it’s not really a moment… I’m uncouth enough to talk like this most of the time,) I said, “Mommy’s tummy doesn’t feel so good. Would you be upset with me if I throw up on you during school?”

Then the amazing thing happened. He tilted his head slightly and grinned and said, “Nope.” And he meant it!

I really don’t think he would be upset! Seeing me get sick is a way of life for my kids. It’s happened for as long as they can remember. And my sweet, sweet four-year-old knows how to roll with the punches. I love that boy!

You’re not strange at all. This past weekend I had a horrendous case of the stomach flu. My oldest four were completely unphased when I ran to the kitchen sink cause I couldn’t make it to a bathroom. Josh came in and asked what was wrong, and the kids, nonplussed, said, “Oh nothin’. Mom’s just puking again.” :)
