Bowled Over
The last month around here has been insane, but I’m sure that’s true for many of you. We’ve been finishing up school for the first semester (ever!), Christmas shopping, decorating, making lots of food, and getting sick. Good times!
In the midst of all that, Andy turned six. His one birthday request was to go bowling. We thought this was a fairly good request, as it allowed for some family bonding (though we didn’t take the little girls) and wasn’t too expensive. (Plus, with his birthday so close to Christmas, it’s sometimes hard to think of one more thing!) So, off we went! We had a great time.
I’m posting lots of photos here, so I’ll keep them small. (Nana, click on them to see then larger.)
Honestly, is there anything more fashionable than bowling shoes with print pants?! (And did you know that toddler bowling shoes are VELCRO?!)
There was a bit of instruction… (Daddy with the birthday boy!)
… and a LOT of trial and error. Three times we had to wait for the bowling alley staff to come and retrieve Connor’s “dead balls” out of the middle of our lane. A little more umph was required!
He eventually got the hang of it (sort of!) Here is saying, “YES!” because he knocked down two pins!
We all had a great time, but the photos below are what made it a success for me:
Here’s a cute shot of Brady helping Connor get the ball “down.” The six-pounds was just a bit much for our three-year-old! Sweet big brother to the rescue!
Even Nate stepped out of his comfort zone a bit to try something new. Here he is bowling with a pink bowling ball! Studly, isn’t he?! (Download NOW! He may kill me / make me remove this photo later!!
)
Though Mommy got to tag along, there was some real male bonding going on.
When we went to pick up our girls afterwards, our nieces had treated them like princesses. It was almost as if they’d had a day at the spa…
See their pretty hair?
Evan’s so pretty in her tiny little ponies! (Thank you Faith and Erica!!)
Even Ferris got her hair styled a tiny bit. (I suspect the croissant in her mouth was a bribery tactic to get her to sit still!)
All in all, we had a wonderful time and created some good memories. Hope you all enjoy the photos! NOW, Brady’s birthday is at the end of January and he wants to go ice skating!! Say a prayer about that, would you?!
