“More… More!”

I’ve mentioned before that we’ve taught all our babies sign language. So far, we’ve had no hearing impaired babies.

We just know that babies have the capability to communicate before they can articulate words. Teaching them sign language helps them share their needs and alleviates frustration (for both parents and babies.)

We’ve been signing to Ferris for awhile now and she knows what we mean. She even signs back “more.” We’re working on “all done” and “please” among others.

Tonight at dinner, Nate was sharing his rice with her. Between bites, he’d sign to her and ask, “More?”

We soon realized that Evan was trying to prompt her little sister by doing the sign herself, too. Before much longer, Brady was trying to help… then Andy and Connor.

Soon, Ferris had six “teachers” hoping she’d mimic the sign. I couldn’t help but laugh as she looked from person to person at the table. Her look suggested that she was thinking, “Huh… look what I got them all to do!” The even had an amused smirk on her tiny face. ;)

She eventually did the sign, and got the rice. Smart girl.

Yea for Ferris. You teaching sign language to your babies amazes me, but so do the other things that you and Nate do to raise your children. Blessings always.
