We’re still lame

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Last year, I wrote about my dreams of one day ringing in the new year with my husband. Yet, last year we were too sick to do anything “real” for the holiday.
This year?
We’re dealing with morning sickness, potty training, flight training, teething, and a police officer’s overtime schedule.
*Sigh* I’m learning to accept the fact that [...]

“More… More!”

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I’ve mentioned before that we’ve taught all our babies sign language. So far, we’ve had no hearing impaired babies.
We just know that babies have the capability to communicate before they can articulate words. Teaching them sign language helps them share their needs and alleviates frustration (for both parents and babies.)
We’ve been signing to Ferris for [...]

Stocking Stuffers?

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Just curious: At about what age will my kids tire of receiving packages of new underwear in their stockings? Cause even with the oldest at age six, they still get giddy with excitement. How much longer can I abuse this privilege?

Merry Christmas!

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

Around here, today is a special day worthy of a special party.
We’re getting ready to make birthday cookies for Jesus. (The boys have had too much cake in recent weeks and are begging for cookies instead. I don’t think Jesus would be too disappointed, do you?)
From our house to yours, Merry Christmas!

Big Girls. . . Don’t Cry

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

I know many of the last several posts have been about Connor, but the boy is just full of hilarious things to say recently. Yesterday was no exception.
Connor was fussing about something, but instead of scolding him about it, I tried a different tactic. I pretend to whine and cry, too. (Moment of parental weakness. [...]

Sons and Daughters

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Connor has reached that point in his young life where he wonders about everything. Tonight, he was asking me about a little girl we know and he kept saying she was her Dad’s little sister. I told him the girl was the man’s daughter. “You know, like you and Andy and Brady are [...]

Cravings

Friday, December 19th, 2008

I haven’t had any real cravings with the pregnancy yet. I’m not immune to them, though. Connor, however, must be having some.
Today, he woke up from his nap and came into the kitchen, rubbing his eyes. He looked at me while I was ironing and said, “Mommy, are you pregnant?”
I thought maybe he’d had weird [...]

A Colorful History

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

As part of their school, my boys listen to me read a Bible story, they answer questions about it, then they color a corresponding coloring sheet. They really enjoy this.
Because of their unique style ideas, I enjoy watching them color, too. Check this out (click to enlarge):

Brady decided that Gideon, too, should sport a coat [...]

Golly Gee… God is Good

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Those of you who know us know that childbirth is almost an annual event around here. I’m not bragging. I know we’re incredibly blessed.
We thank God for the miracle of life each and every time. We know there are people who struggle and we pray for those people. We don’t take pregnancy for granted one [...]

One of Those Days

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

So, while I was nursing Ferris earlier today, Evan decided to play in the (expensive, gluten-free) flour. She had it all over the floor in the kitchen and all over herself.
Her PJs, which had been red, were a pale pink. Her hair was white. Her eyelashes were white. She made a paste in the bathtub.
I [...]
