WFMW: No More Coloring Books

Here’s a tip for moms that will save a few pennies. (Can’t we all use a few extra pennies about now?)

I hate spending money on coloring books. The kids rush though each page, tear it out to show someone, then it ends up on the floor and eventually in the trash. Seems like such a waste.

So, I don’t waste money on them anymore. Especially since the ones with the “good stuff” (read: licensed characters from TV shows my kids are allowed to watch) cost about $6!

Here’s how to save yourself some cash.

The major kids’ TV networks have websites that are FULL of printable coloring sheets! Here are links for:

Playhouse Disney

  • Mickey
  • Winnie the Pooh
  • Little Einsteins
  • Handy Manny
  • & more!

Noggin

  • Franklin
  • Dora the Explorer
  • Diego (As in “Go… Go!”)
  • & more!

Nick Junior

  • Backyardigans
  • Blue’s Clues
  • & more!

The nice thing is you can print these out a few at a time while you’re blogging doing work on the computer. It’s very little ink, so I’m sure it costs less than those overpriced coloring books. With a little searching, you can find coloring sheets for just about anything. I recently found a motorcycle police officer by typing “police coloring sheets” in the search field.

I often print out several at a time and keep them in a folder for my kids. The can choose one when they get the urge to color and I don’t have to worry about scraps of torn paper all over the place. Cheap and easy! Works for me!

PBS also has coloring pages on their website. Some kid’s DVDs have bonus coloring pages that you can get by putting the DVD in your computer CD/ROM drive (check your disk before you do this).

Thanks so much for all the links. We do the same thing only I haven’t ventured too far from coloringbookfun.com . My daughter will appreciate some new options!

    Blessings~
