The Gift of Love

We jokingly call Connor, who’s now three, Mr. Romance. He’s a bundle of sweetness, dispensing hugs and kisses and “I wuv you soooooooo much, Mommy” comments several times a day. He’s just plain irresistible.

We driving home from a friend’s today and I pointed out the colorful leaves to the boys. (Evan was asleep and Ferris just doesn’t care yet.) We’re blessed to live in an area of the country that has four very distinct seasons, though — in my opinion — summer is too short and winter is too long. That’s just me.

Back to the van. The kids were oohing and aahing and pointing out different shades of orange and yellow. Ahead, I saw a shrub whose leaves were a deep, scarlet red. I pointed it out to the boys, too.

Connor:“Ooooh! It’s beautiful!”

Me: “It is very pretty, isn’t it?”

Connor: “I did that for you, Mommy?”

Me (playing along): “You did?! Oh, thank you honey.”

Connor:“And I buyed that one for you, too, Mommy. That orange one!”

Me: “Oh, wow, thanks!”

Connor: “And that big, big house right there, too!”

Such a giver, that boy. If only it were that easy.

Here’s Connor during our recent trip, trying to kiss Evan. She moved away right before I snapped the camera. Apparently, chicks don’t dig goggles.

You’re right about the seasons and I certainly agree. The colors are brillant this year. Hope we get a few more excellent days. I think that Connor is very much a sweetheart and your post proves it. Not to say the other children aren’t.
