My Favorite Subject

I usually avoid filling my blog with memes – just because I have enough content with my wacky kids – but today I decided to do one. I read this one over at Barbara’s and it made me smile. Why? Because it’s about one of my favorite subjects: my crazy husband. :)

Since Nate rarely comments on here (but he does read it,) I decided to let you all know a bit more about the (main) man in my life. Check it out, then let me know if you do it, too!

1. He’s sitting in front of the TV; what is on the screen?
Something about helicopters from the military channel, or one of those we-found-the-victim-already-dead-but-now-we’re-studying-his/her-blood-spatters-with-an-entire-team-of-detectives,-police-officers,-and-medical-examiners-to-figure-out-the-cause-of-death type shows. You know what I mean!

2. You’re out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad?
Ranch. Always, always Ranch.

3. What’s one food he doesn’t like?
Coconut.

4. You go out to the bar. What does he order?
We don’t go to bars… But at restaurants, he always gets, “Pepsi or Coke, or whatever you have.”

5. Where did he go to high school?
At home. ;)

6. What size shoe does he wear?
10.5

7. If he was to collect anything, what would it be?
Since it’s an “if,” we can pretend money is no object, right? So, without a doubt, he’d collect helicopters. But since money is an object, he collects children. :)

8. What is his favorite type of sandwich?
Does a hamburger count? He’s a burger lover. His favorite is the Royal Red Robin (from Red Robin) with Provolone cheese.

Otherwise, he enjoys a good double-decker PB&J.

9. What would this person eat every day if he could?
Meatloaf maybe? Or whatever I make. I’m blessed that he’s not too picky.

10. What is his favorite cereal?
Honey Combs (big, yeah, yeah, yeah! It’s not small, no, no, no!)

11. What would he never wear?
Anything pink. He won’t even wear lavendar… I’ve tried. ;)

12. What is his favorite sports team?
The Cubs! (I’m proud to say that since he met me, he’s become die hard. Can you believe he never cared before?!)

13. Who will he vote for?
On which show? ;)

14. Who is his best friend?
He has a LOT of friends. I’d like to think I’m his best friend. ;) He shares a brain with Phil, though, even though Phil is now in Germany. Maybe Jason?

15. What is something you do that he wishes you wouldn’t do?
Chew gum like a valley girl. I’m really trying to stop. :)

16. How many states has he lived in?
3

17. What is his heritage?
Amish. Probably German before that.

18. You bake him a cake for his birthday; what kind of cake?
Lemon Creme Cake. (YUM!)

19. Did he play sports in high school?
He was homeschooled, so the team would have been pretty small… No sports.

20. What could he spend hours doing?
No could about it… He spends hours a day with his head in the clouds flying helicopters. Or “getting the bad guys” as a police officer.

21. What talent does your husband have that most people would be surprised about?
The man is uber-musical. He sings, plays the piano, leads singing at church. But, more surprising is that he can sew (with a machine, too!) and can knit. I can’t knit, but he can.

22. What is one of the things you appreciate most about him?
He is endlessly hard-working. But I love, love, love that he never expects me to “do it all.” He never complains when the house is a wreck or when dinner isn’t ready yet. He knows I’ve got higher priorities. (He’s so level-headed about everything that he keeps me from freaking out when a project is due soon and the laundry is piling up.) He’s the best!

Okay, you roped me into it. I had to laugh at how similar our answers would be and immediately posted my own. :)

  2. Barbara H. Says:

I enjoyed your creative answers especially to #7. :)

From Amish to a helicopter pilot — I imagine there is quite a story there!

Loved your additional questions, too. Your answer to the last one is very similar to my husband.

  3. Sharon Says:

Always wondered what made Nate, Nate. Thanks for the insight. He seems to be a winner just like mine.

  4. Uncle Tim Says:

Ok - 2 comments. I’m trying to think of which 3 states he has lived in. I can only think of 2.

Second - the REAL question is … how does he pronounce “P-R-O-V-O-L-O-N-E”? :)

  5. Uncle Tim Says:

    Otherwise - I’d say he’s an all-round, cool dude! :)

  6. christa Says:

Uncle Tim, it is three states… IN, FL and briefly SC. ;)
