Before we start school each morning, one of us — either Andy, Brady or me – prays. When it’s my turn, I almost always pray that we’ll stay focused. (When there are three other smaller kids bouncing around the house, that can be an issue.)
Today, Brady prayed. I’m not joking when I say he prayed this:
“Dear God…. [...]

I usually avoid filling my blog with memes – just because I have enough content with my wacky kids – but today I decided to do one. I read this one over at Barbara’s and it made me smile. Why? Because it’s about one of my favorite subjects: my crazy husband.
Since Nate rarely comments on [...]

Today should be a simple, laid-back Saturday for me.
But it’s not.
I have no deadline. No graphic design clients awaiting their projects today. No T-ball games. No meetings with Pastors. No helicopter rides scheduled (for me). No schoolwork to do with the kids.
Just laundry.
And packing FOR SEVEN PEOPLE FOR SEVEN DAYS.
{We’ll be gone next week… I’ve [...]

We’ve taught all of our children sign language. Somewhere between six and eight months, I start signing to them. Their older siblings are great teachers, too. With the rate at which new babies enter our house, the older kids get constant review. Nate’s on board, too. It’s a family affair.
I should stop for a second [...]

Today we started a “real” journey to finding out exactly what Brady is allergic to. We’ve eliminated casein (dairy) and we still think that’s one of his problems. He, however, has recently developed more symptoms. Now we’re concerned that maybe we got it wrong or there’s more than one allergen.
So, today, we met with a [...]

Now that my kids are getting old enough to articulate things better (you know, actual sentences,) I’m enjoying understanding them a bit better. I mean that I like knowing what makes them tick.
In the past few weeks, they’ve cheered for me on a few occasions. They’ve even told me once I was their hero! Here [...]

My mom visited this weekend, and as usual, helped in numerous ways. Nate had to work until about 11 p.m. on Saturday evening, and then we had to go to our church to set-up a back drop for some photos we were taking.
Unfortunately, Connor came down with a fever Saturday. Nana had already volunteered to [...]

In 25 years, please remind Connor that, when asked if he ever wanted to get married, he replied, “Nope. I allergic to married.”
Somehow, I think that’s an allergy that’s commonly outgrown. His Daddy had the same one when he was Connor’s age.

No, this is not a political message.
Today, while we were “doing school,” Brady needed to cut and glue. This has become his favorite part of school. I attribute it to his engineer-type mind. Something in the boy just can’t resist the urge to demolish and then try to put things back together in a new [...]

We eat “breakfast for dinner” a lot around here. Omelettes and pancakes are among our favorites. Omelettes offer a lot of variety, but when you have a kid that’s allergic to dairy, the pancakes can be a bit tricky.
Until now!
A few weeks ago, I made pancakes and ingenuity struck me. Why not use orange juice [...]
