WFMW: Changes of Clothes for Kids
With baseball season upon us, we’ll be spending a lot more time “living” out of our van. Here’s a Works-for-Me-Wednesday tip for all you moms out there!
Now that we’ve upped our kiddie total to five (and the oldest is just five), I’m starting to have some organizational Mommy break-throughs. Actually, I thought of this one awhile ago, but it’s so good I’ll post about it now, a few years later.
Rather than hauling around a ginormous diaper bag filled with the necessities PLUS a change of clothes for each child who might need it (we currently have three in diapers), I have a second bag in my van with just that — changes of clothes for each child. They’re generally outfits I don’t love, so I don’t miss them in their day-to-day rotation of laundry… but they do fit in case of emergency.
We’ve had to use them a time or two when we’re away from home. We’ve also been able to lend them to friends who don’t use the system when their kids have accidents. (It’s nice being someone else’s life-saver!)
That’s it. Not earth-shattering, but a great idea for those moments when you’re in a pinch! For other ideas, check out Rocks in My Dryer’s Works for Me Wednesday.

Wonderful tip! I don’t know why I never thought of that? I have four under six. We have lots of accidents. Thanks! We’ll incorporate this immediately.
I do this too! Here from Rocks in my Dryer!

This is a great tip! Thank you! I have 2 boys and one on the way! My little guys are 3 and 4 and boy do they get messy anywhere we go! Awesome tip! Thanks
That is a great idea! I learned with my first child that you never leave home without an extra change of clothes.
That’s a great idea!
Great minds must think alike:) I just posted something like this a few weeks ago when we started baseball practice.

It sounds like we have a lot in common I have four and my oldest is 6. It is a lot of fun, isn’t it? But it does take some organizing!
We do this also. After needing an outfit for my son when we were out and having to purchase a t-shirt in a restaurant, I decided to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
I used to keep underwear under my seat for my son. He used it a few times, but the time I was able to give it to another mom in need made it worth any effort I might have put forth. I didn’t get to be the “prepared mom” with my first very often.
I keep a set of PJ’s in the car. We tend to stay at the in-law’s until bed time, and I never remember to bring PJ’s to change Miles into. This way they are in the car and I don’t have to worry about him sleeping in some uncomfortable overalls or waking him up to change him later. Also, I hadn’t thought about it, but using your tip, I could use it as a backup outfit too!
