Answer to Prayer?
Last night, I read the kids a bedtime story. We all piled on Andy’s bed and red (oddly enough) a story book about the first Christmas. I think Connor chose the book.
Anyway, when that was done, we assigned prayer topics. I like to have the kids pray for one thing for our family and one thing for someone else. Eventually that will mature, but for now, it’s what they can remember.
Brady wanted to pray for Joshua, Anna and Barrett (cousins!) and for Daddy to come home from work safely. Good. With a bit of guidance, Connor prayed for “God he’p me obey” and for Aunt Elizabeth’s (Wizz-a-bet’s) baby in her belly. Great.
I don’t really guide Andy too much anymore. I did remind him to pray for Nana and Poppy’s church (it’s having some issue). So when it was his turn to pray, he quickly prayed for the church and then followed up: “God, please help the Cubs win all their games. Amen!”
Now, he is my boy, but that made me cringe a bit. There’s no way they’ll win all 180 games. Andy innocently looked at me and said, “Will God answer my prayer, Mommy?”
This was a perfect time to explain that God answers every prayer… maybe just not how we want. He might say yes, but He might answer no. Sometimes He simply answers, “Wait.” As I finished up explaining that to him (which he took very well,) Nate came home from work.
Brady got excited… God answered His prayer with a “yes!”

That is wonderful, Christa. Keeps me smiling. Sorry about your folks church. I’ll keep them in mind.
