WFMW: Easy cleaning stove top

For those of us who don’t have those cool flat-surface stoves, cleaning the stove top can be a real pain. A friend of mine does this, so I stole her idea!

My stove has “plates” under the burners. I periodically cover those with foil. When things boil over (or my kids help me cook) and they get dirty, I just peal the foil off, make sure the plates are clean and replace the foil.

It always looks tons nicer and it’s much less of a hassle than scrubbing and soaking and scrubbing again. Voila! Like new.

Hope that helps someone out there. For more great tips, check out Rocks in My Dryer’s Works for Me Wednesday.

What a great idea!! I have recently moved into a house with a gas stove and I have be lamenting how dirty they get! I will do this tomorrow.

    Thanks!

We have the flat top now which is great but I used to do this before and loved it. Great post!!

    Genius!

My new house actually came with a flat top and (shhh, don’t tell) I *hate* it. I really miss my gas stove, the flat top is not *that* easy to clean if something spills, and there are definitely no awesome shortcuts to cleaning it like this one! I’m jealous of your stove top :)

That is funny because when we moved into our house, the former owners had done that. It was the first time I had ever seen this, but very smart. :)

I do it too. I’m still grateful for the tip.
