Pineapple Paradise
Brady loves his fruit. LOVES fruit. The boy will eat bowl after bowl if you let him. Connor is turning out to be much the same way.
We recently went on our big monthly stock-up trip to Sam’s Club. We got a good deal on a fresh pineapple, which is a real treat at our house. Most of the time, we have canned pineapple chunks.
Brady kept checking on the pineapple in the cart. He wanted to put it up on the conveyor belt at the cashier. He put it in the van. When we got home, that was the first thing he unloaded. He carried it into the kitchen, put it on the bench, and knelt down next to it… for 10 minutes. I’m not kidding.
Generally, Brady never sits still. On this particular night, however, he was so elated to have the pineapple that he sat staring at it until I made him get up. When I told him we’d have it for dinner (which wasn’t even started yet,) he nearly had a meltdown. I soon caught him trying to cut into the fruit with a plastic Zoo Pals knife.
Finally, I convinced him to help me make dinner. I told him we’d get the Sloppy Joes started and then we could cut the pineapple and put it in a bowl. I had to run downstairs to the freezer to get the ground beef and when I came back upstairs, this is what I found:
Yup, that’s Brady with a butter knife. (He knows better than the use the sharp knives, so this was his best attempt.)
I finally had to send him in to see Dad while I got started on dinner. When I came back after getting him settled with Daddy, this is what I found:
I told you Connor was following suit with the love of fruit.
Crazy kids. In the end, we all got to eat some yummy pineapple — even Brady and Connor, who were stealing it out of the bowl before the table was even set. At least it’s good for them.

That is hilarious. That is handy information about my nephews that I am sure will come in handy someday.
I love pineapple, too. And I happen to cut mine with a Zoo Pals knife. Tell me again what’s wrong with that?

Heather, if you can actually cut into it with a Zoo Pals knife, I want to see it. You’re incredible!
