We’ve come a long way, Baby

Today, Nate and I celebrate six short years of marriage. It really doesn’t feel like it’s been that long. But we’ve accomplished much in those six years. Here’s just a short recap:

  • nearly set the church on fire during our wedding ceremony
  • Nate told me on our honeymoon that he’d tried to get us tickets to a Cubs game (in November!)
  • lived in apartment for a year
  • he got sworn in at our local police department
  • we became pregnant with our first child
  • I started doing minimal graphic design work for our church
  • bought a house
  • had that first child, Andy at home — a waterbirth!
  • Nate got his helicopter pilot’s license
  • had two more boys, Brady, then Connor, (two more waterbirths at home)
  • Nate became a canine officer
  • have had three dogs
  • miscarried “Baby D” (either Dominic Ryne or Dayna Hope)
  • we have a full-fledged graphic design business, catering mostly to the needs of missionaries, churches, etc.
  • had planned a hospital for Evan’s birth, and after a complicated pregnancy (four different complications!) and a helicopter flight to get to the Chicago hospital, we spent a month driving to the NICU
  • Nate has become a flight instructor at two different helicopter schools — at one, he’s the chief flight instructor!
  • we now are expecting “Baby F”
  • Nate now knows pretty much as much as I do about the Cubs — including the fact that even a really good season ends in October. :)

We’re very blessed and we continue to see God provide in ways only He can. We see miracles of every size every day.

I love you, Honey. You’re the best! I can’t wait until we’re celebrating 60 years. :)

Happy Anniversary, Nate and Christa. Had I know sooner I would have sent you a real e-card. Best wishes for a long, long, long wonderful marriage. Did I say long?

Boy, do I remember those flowers goin’ up. What I remember most is how beautiful you looked in your wedding gown, all those goofy grins Nate kept throwing your way, and how well you rolled with the punches that day. You both were so calm and collected, it blew my mind. But, looking back, nothing could have been more appropriate than you two having a fire truck roll up just as the reception was starting. I couldn’t have timed it better myself.

Happy, happy, happy anniversary! Love you guys and all your “Cubbies”.

Seems to me that some of the things that Heather brought up needs some explaining to those of us are not aware of. How about it? Fire truck, goofy grins. How about a photo of you and Nate the day you married?
