Who gets your vote?

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Ashamedly, I don’t pay much attention to politics. I know I should, but other things have precedence (like preschoolers, morning sickness and graphic design).
Our friend Janet sent us a link to a quick survey. Go there and it’ll tell you who most matches your ideals for president. It’s quick — really. And interesting!

Nuggo

Do any other families out there have words that pretty much all of your children have used — incorrectly pronounced?! We do!
The past few mornings, Connor comes in and climbs into Nate’s side of the bed after Nate has left. He wiggles past the middle over to whatever scrap of my pillow he can get [...]

Half-way!

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

I remember tracking my pregnancy with Andy meticulously. That was when time was a luxury I was afforded and I didn’t have any children to watch every day. Now, not so much. I can’t believe I’m already half-way through this pregnancy! Yikes.
Andy asked me today how big Baby F is, so I looked it up [...]

Brady, deconstructed

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Tonight, Brady was dancing around in a circle and chanting / screaming something that made no sense. The following conversation took place:
Me: “Brady, just how many fries short of a Happy Meal are you, anyway?”
Brady: “Seventy-hundred!!!”
So, that explains it. His silly streak runs seventy-hundred miles long, too.

WFMW: Teaching kids to pick up

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

One of my sons (who shall remain nameless so as not to harm his chances of landing a wife someday) has trouble remembering to put his dirty clothes where they belong. Particularly his underwear. (I know — ew!)
I came up with a plan. To help teach him to be responsible for his own things, we [...]

Fun Facts for Figuring Us Out (Baby F Names, pt 2)

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Previously, I posted about the struggle we’re having naming this baby growing inside of me. I like to decide the names as early as possible so I can mentally refer to the baby by those two (boy and girl) choices. We’re on letter F this time and it’s proving to be quite the challenge.
I’ll admit [...]

Knowledge of Pregnancy Issues

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Due to my chronic pregnancy, my children probably know more about what being pregnant entails than most children their age. They know that Mommy often gets sick because “there’s a baby in her belly.” They know Mommy gets tired more and, often, cranky, too. They know they can’t rough-house with me as much when I’m [...]

No, I amn’t

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Awhile back, Andy contrived his own new contraction: “amn’t.” As in, “Andy, you’re strange.” “No, I amn’t.”
Because I was an English major and because I don’t want to perpetuate the decline of our American English, I quickly corrected him each time and he now says, “No, I’m not.” Whew!
The problem is the “monkey do syndrome.” [...]

Hair-o-wing situation

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

What is it about little boys that makes it physically impossible to sit still during a haircut?
I just cut Andy, Brady and Connor’s hair. Oddly enough, Connor did the best. Andy hates being itchy (despite the fact that he’s wearing a real salon-style cape) and Brady is just wiggly… all the time. Brady’s hairline along [...]

Choosing Teams

Friday, October 19th, 2007

This morning, the boys have been kicking a foam soccer ball up and down our hallway. I overheard this:
Brady: “Are you the reds?”
Andy: “No, I’m on the Cubs.” (I know it’s the wrong sport, but you have to commend his allegiance.)
Brady: “No, you’re on the reds because you have red underwear.”
Is that why Cincinatti adopted [...]
