Knowledge of Pregnancy Issues
Due to my chronic pregnancy, my children probably know more about what being pregnant entails than most children their age. They know that Mommy often gets sick because “there’s a baby in her belly.” They know Mommy gets tired more and, often, cranky, too. They know they can’t rough-house with me as much when I’m pregnant. Experience has made them well-informed.
A few days ago, I was waiting for Brady to finish up in the bathroom so I could go. He was taking his own sweet time. This is how our conversation went:
Me: “Brady-Boy, are you almost done?”
Brady: “Yeah, why?”
Me: “‘Cause I need to go potty, too.”
Brady: “You do? Why?”
Me: “Well, sometimes, when mommies have babies in their bellies, they have to go a lot.”
Brady: exacerbated “Really? Why did I not know this?!”
I guess he missed that lecture.
