She’s in the Armpit of Africa
My sister-in-law Heather is currently indisposed… As in out of the country… washing her hair. That’s not an enxcuse to get her out of a date… She is out of the country. She’s helping to return some African orphans back home before their visas run out. That’s just the sort of noble, compassionate person she is. (I should pay attention more when I’m with her. I could use some of that stuff.)
At any rate, she’s in the midst of three weeks in Cameroon (which is in the bent part of Africa, over on the west side). My boys were asking where she is today. I thought about telling them that she’s in the armpit of Africa, but then we’d have to have another discussion about just why Mom & Dad use deodorant. I’ll save that for another time. Instead I told them, “She’s in Africa, where the giraffes are.” They responded with lots of “oohs” and “aahs.”
I’m bringing this all up to ask everyone to pray for her safe return. My brother-in-law Tim is holding down the fort with three little ones (ages 6, 4, and 1!) Pray for his patience, too, though he never seems to need it. But pray that’s she’ll come home recharged and ready for that aforementioned date (with Tim).
If you’re interested in hearing more about her journey, they’ve started their own blog. Check it out!
