When I grow up
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a librarian. After all, they got to read all the latest books first, right? In middle school and early high school, I actually wanted to be a lawyer. (All of you who know me are snickering right now, huh?) Then, in my junior year, I was on the yearbook staff and was introduced to (what they then called) desktop publishing. That love continued through college and beyond as I became a graphic artist. At some point, I realized God wanted me to be a wife and mother first, and then I could find time for such hobbies. Just no more career. Fine with me!
This morning, my boys took turns “snuddling” Mommy. (That’s our combination word for snuggle / cuddle. Wouldn’t Rachael Ray be proud?)
When I have this sacred one-on-one time with them, I like to ask them specific questions. Today I (again) asked them what they want to be when they grow up. Andy, without hesitation, said, “A pilot like Daddy.” A helicopter pilot.
Brady immediately said, “A cowboy! … Or, a police!” (Again, like Daddy).
Connor sweetly agreed, “Umm… Yup!” So, maybe he didn’t quite understand the question. But as of now, his strong affection for jersey knit blankets might make him a natural for a job in a textile factory. Or a Linus impersonator.
Evan never answered, but as per my post yesterday, she’s got a future in construction. As a roller.
I have no idea what the Lord has in store for them, but it’s so fun to watch it unfold. I’m looking forward to it. I’m also thinking Brady could work for a bit as a model at The Gap… See one of his photos from yesterday?

Brady may just take after Uncle Chad as a model huh? He may have even greater luck. Of course I know they are all cute enough to be models anyway. Just another thing to aspire to.
